In Michael Wesely 6.3 – 14.3.2007 (from the Still Life series) he may have taken multiple images over the nine days of a vase of flowers which remained in place from a camera set up in the same position. These could be combined in photoshop as layers with various opacity to emphasise the sense of movement – particularly of the flower stems. We don’t see any petals detached from the stem that aren’t on the table, indicating the artist did not want to show these or did not capture any images with floating petals. It’s interesting the water has not changed in level or colour, suggesting a photoshop edit with the vase from the first image being used as the top layer with 100% opacity.
It relates to Cubism by representing time – the movement and wilting of the flowers, and by showing multiple sides of the flowers and and their stems as their appearance changes over time. The single image shows more than one way to view a vase of flowers.
Dora Maar

The monster on the beach shown above is a photo montage showing a very realistic ocean/beach scene with a symbol of a monster apparently floating and staring out to sea. Some interpret this in relation to WWII and battles on the beaches, in a psychic automatist manner . It can equally be interpreted as dreamy automatism, an unconscious assembling of images lacking in logic or order.
